Taste this Bulgarian treasure and serve it on toast, with ice cream and in a cream cake. Also delicious on a croissant! The word jam derives from the Latin melimelum, which means sweet apple. Another theory claims the origin is the Portuguese word marmelo, meaning quince jam. The word marmalade probably originated from the corresponding verb, which meant to press hard in the early 18th century. However, the origin is not really known.
This jam contains 40% petals of the Damask rose and is a typical Bulgarian speciality. The roses are grown and handpicked in the famous Valley of Roses near the town of Kazanlik. Taste this Bulgarian treasure and serve it on toast, with ice cream and in a cream cake. Also delicious on a croissant!
