Taste this treasure from Bulgaria and serve it on toast, with cream ice cream and in cream cake. Also delicious on a croissant! The word jam comes from the Latin melimelum, which means “sweet apple”. Another theory claims that the origin is the Portuguese word marmelo, which means quince paste. The word jam probably arose from the corresponding verb, which at the beginning of the 18th century meant “to press strongly”. But the origin is not really known.
This jam contains 40% Damask rose petals and is a typical Bulgarian specialty. The roses are grown and hand-picked in the famous Valley of Roses near the city of Kazanlik. Taste this treasure from Bulgaria and serve it on toast, with cream ice cream and in cream cake. Also delicious on a croissant!
